Toothpaste from India may contain antifreeze agent - Health Canada orders recall
Neem Active Toothpaste with Calcium, has been found in several stores in Western and Atlantic Canada, but the agency says it's not approved for sale in Canada. Consumers are cautioned to stop using the toothpaste, made by the Calcutta Chemical Co. Ltd., and return it to where it was sold. This brand of toothpaste from India has been found to contain high levels of diethylene glycol (DEG), a poisonous chemical used in antifreeze.

On Sunday, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a warning over the two chili products because of possible botulism contamination.

• Great Value Hot Chili with Beans, 425-gram cans bearing UPC 6 81131 79995 9.

On Saturday, Castleberry's expanded its recall of canned meat products that may be connected to a botulism outbreak. It recalled more than 80 types of canned chili, beef stew, corned beef hash and other meat items, in addition to the 10 brands it recalled Thursday.

Continue to be diligent when purchasing products from China. The most recent complaints are about lead paint on toys. This coming after pet food and toothpaste contamination will make many cautious, justifiably so, when the name of China appears on a product.
